Production Supervisor

Production Supervisor

What did you study and why ?

I studied Computerized Numerical Control (CNC), one of the core applications of Asco Industries.

It is fascinating to see how conventional turning and milling became a completely automated process that still requires the input, feeling and touch of an operator. Man and machine working together as one.

What were you looking for in your (first) job in Asco ?

Asco specializes in producing parts of high precision. So it was safe to assume that Asco appreciates an employee who reflects the same specifications in his own work and development.

What was your first impression of Asco as employer and how did things go during your first few weeks/months ?

Asco Industries is always looking for different ways to improve. Concepts as LEAN, KANBAN, 5S are part of the day-to-day business. These aren’t just mere projects but high valued enterprise objectives. The key is to involve every single individual in this process. This way of working had an instant positive effect on me.

What is the exact content of your job and how do you see yourself evolving in Asco ?

I am a production supervisor. I manage production teams, monitor KPI’s, identify waste and correct or adjust where needed. I am surrounded by an excellent team of professionals and experts who help me choose the right directions.

During my time here at Asco I have executed different functions. I started as a CNC operator, later I grew into a position of Process Technician and in 2013 I got promoted to my current job (Production Supervisor).

Every time I accomplished my objectives and when I was ready for new challenges, we discussed new opportunities and we set new goals. This will be no different in the future.

Can you briefly explain the operation of your department ?

An Operating Unit is a group of experts who administer a manufacturing process of a specific group of parts in which each product passes through a sequence of operations, within the clients’ specifications and on time. From raw material though production, quality, surface treatment and assembly to sales. I am responsible for the smooth running of the machining and assembly area and I supervise a team of +/- 150 workers together with 2 other Production Supervisors.

Why was Asco the right choice for you ?

Asco Industries is a fast growing company, opportunities present themselves frequently. The company expects high standards, but this only adds to the satisfaction when objectives are achieved. This is important to me.
